Hornimans Mentor Project – helping young people to help themselves!

What is the mentor project?

The Hornimans Mentor Project has been set up to provide support, guidance and encouragement for 5-16 year olds in a safe and friendly environment.  It’s a vital resource for you because you cannot always deal with problems by yourself and sometimes an a helping hand from someone else is all you need.  And that’s me!   My name is Louise Vaz and I can be contacted at Hornimans Adventure Playground or email me

I am here for support and guidance for whatever aspect of life you might be struggling with.  Do you have are having problems at school whether its struggling with a subject or you are generally feeling unmotivated.   We will work together to minimise your stress by making you well informed and organised.  I meet with my mentees for regular one to one meeting so that we can agree on targets to be reviewed and altered if necessary so that you can reach your full potential.

Are you facing challenges in your home life?  Do you have concerns about your health and are unsure where to go?  If it is a problem that is beyond my expertise/capability I will refer you to the right resource for you.  I will still be there for support if you need it, you do not have to be alone, I will always follow through with you if needed. NOTICES TO OUR VISITORS:  We are in the process of updating the website information so at present it's a tad dusty and old but having thrown out Miss Havisham and her cat, we will be adding more new content and images very soon.  Please keep checking the site for more information!

Hello and welcome to Hornimans Adventure Playgrounds website.  This is a place where you will be able to get updates of playground activity and news.  The web site is maintained by staff and some of the press crew by submitting content in the form of images, writing, reviewing and also having their online magazine 'Shout' (which is at present being updated).  It's all part of the ever evolving Hornimans.

If you want to join in and sign up, feel free. But please remember that this is our children and young people’s space and the web site is heavily moderated by staff members and our volunteers! If your children are under the age of 13 years, please make sure you are aware that they are online and have your permission to register.  All registration on line will come through to the senior worker and will not be accepted unless you call to speak with us first.  You cannot access parts of this website unless you register.

If you're a parent who wishes to get more information about our playground, feel free to drop us a line via this site, or the contact form, email or give us a ring (it's probably quicker!).
